Great Ocean Road

A 1000km drive, over a 24 hour period and sleeping in the car… tiring by well worth it! The scenery on this road between Melbourne and Adelaide is simply stunning and I felt like I could stop around almost every corner to see a different view or take more photos.

I passed some familiar place names such as Torquay and Dartmoor and stopped off at various view points as well as a nice short walk to a nearby waterfall and another to a lighthouse. The winding road was actually really good to drive and this was my first time driving an automatic, a little odd at first but it did make the journey easier.

I was surprised how quiet the road was, although further along at the Twelve Apostles I did start to see more people. Another really impressive sight, I don’t have too much to say about a lot of these places so I’ll just let the photos do the talking.

After the Great Ocean Road with night falling the drive did get a little more tedious with long straight roads to nowhere, but after a couple of short sleeps pulled over somewhere I was then amazed by the night sky. So clear away from the cities and also of course an almost entirely new set of stars for me in the opposing hemisphere.

I now have a few days in Adelaide so will update again after my visit there.
